Northeast Brazil is the poorest area of Brazil and often drought prone.
To help diversify production, SHARE has supported many small farmers to diversify and spread their risk. With insufficient financial resources, and lack of knowledge in chemical agriculture, organics make sense. In 2000, SHARE brought a small number of farmers from three northeast states together in Ceara for a couple of days to share methods & techniques. The results were so positive that it has become a highlight that is rotated between states annually. The 2006 Organic Meeting had grown to nearly 100 participants and the theme for 2007 is being planned. This is "pass on" in action.
